I was part of a mentorship programme through the Indiefolio network where I joined the Delhi team mentored by Aaquib Wani in designing and producing an Installation for the Arth Arts and Cultural festival. With a brief that tasked us with celebrating the diversity of India, we chose to highlight language - an integral part that unites every community. India is a host to over 700 spoken languages, the second largest in the world. We chose 11 written scripts some of which are used for multiple languages to create our ‘Speaking Tree’, a grided layered structure that is inspired by the Banyan Tree. The Banyan tree is a significant part of many cultures and is revered across the country. Utilising a wide array of colours used to weave the letters by hand across the tree structure, we created an installation that celebrated with joy the vividness of India.

The project was designed and executed in a span of 2 weeks.
