The Indiefolio Network approached me to give my thoughts on the creative industry as a whole - no matter negative or positive and in any format that I deemed appropriate.
“Everyone has a perception of the creative industry. Right from your mum, your grocer, clients, and maybe even your dog! But as a creator yourself, what is your perception of the industry? What first pops into your mind when someone asks you about the creative industry?”
As a fresh graduate in the year of 2020, I was on the receiving end of a lot of advice. After numerous seminars, portfolio review sessions and graduating speeches from
just about everyone, I was exhausted. It felt like we were being told to do almost everything and anything at once! Like a doll on display - we were to be the most marketable versions of ourselves as creators. And that’s precisely what I chose to encapsulate for this brief. I reimagined me and my classmates as a bunch of creative designer dolls on sale - to be purchased at the nearest overpriced design institute :) I drafted a catalog - creating The Ultimate Designers. The goal was to depict the essence of the market at the time - creative individuals as commodities for sale. All in good fun, of course.
